The DeKalb teenager who stabbed her 2-year-old stepsister 7 times will be tried as an adult, The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports. DeKalb police have charged the 13-year-old girl with the murder of her 2-year-old half sister, Sasha Ray. “The girl had multiple stab wounds,” said DeKalb County police spokeswoman Mekka Parrish, who told reporters the teen would be charged as an adult. “The 13-year-old was angry about something,” Parrish said.
Sasha’s parents left her and her siblings in the care of the teenager on Monday while they ran errands.
The parents returned home around noon and were told Sasha was missing. After a search, the toddler was found dead in the backyard of the family’s Decatur condo in Waldrop Station.
Sasha’s father, Shelton Ray told Channel 2 Action News that his stepdaughter confessed to him in a phone call from jail.
Ray told Channel 2 he takes comfort in knowing his daughter is in a better place. “She’s gone on to glory now. Now it’s up to me to make it to where she is,” he said. “She is in a better place than I am, and with that known, I know I’m good.”
