Barbie Kara-2Everyone has their own definition of success. I believe that success is what happens when preparation and luck meet.

Think about it: Where would Gabby Douglas be if the Olympic tryouts rolled around, and she hadn’t prepared for them with years of hard work and dedication? Definitely not sportin’ her gold medals on the front of a cereal box! No one wants to miss out on the big breaks that may come their way because they weren't prepared. My daughter is no exception. So, every day she works hard toward reaching the goals that she's set for herself, and her S.I.S™ Barbie® Kara® helps her to keep those goals in mind.

She's no gymnast, but she does play the violin (pretty well, if I do say so myself). Like Kara, her ultimate dream is to be a part of a major orchestra someday. We know it can happen, but not if she doesn't practice and stay motivated. That way, when an opportunity presents itself, she'll be ready to give it her all, and she'll know that no matter what happens, she tried her absolute best, because she was prepared. There’s just nothing more empowering than confidence, and nothing makes you more confident than–you guessed it – preparation!

How can you help the girls in your life prepare for their big success? It all starts with a goal.

Find out what their dreams are and help them set realistic short- and long-term goals that’ll keep them motivated along the way.

My daughter likes to track her progress on a chart and keep notes in a journal. Doing so not only reminds her of where she's going, but it shows her how far she's come. And we both know that she's going a lot further, because she's prepared.

I love this concept for young girls. Seeing beautiful positive role models in the toys they play with will be a great influence for self esteem and self-love.
