Simply called Lexi--this woman is a force to be reckoned with. A singer, talk show host and motivator, Lexi has finally found her calling.
After losing her husband who was the love of her life to a rare form of cancer several years ago, Lexi went into a healing place. She needed to re-evaluate herself and wasn’t sure if she’d sing again. After all, her husband was her writer and co-producer. Then one day, their friend Marcus gave her some music.
“I didn’t know Marcus could produce like that but he patterned himself after my husband. I thought it was a great fit for me...I enjoyed this project...I felt it was meant for me and Marcus to hook up and do a record...no question about it.”
Now, with the release of her fifth album Phenomenal, she’s back on the charts. The CD’s first single “Burn it all Down” is on Billboard’s Gospel top 20. She’s also a talk show host on her own show: The Lexi Show, which airs on The Word Network in addition to an Entertainment Correspondent on The syndicated Yolanda Adams Morning Show.
I asked her how she juggled it all while raising an 11 year old son:
“Easy. My son is gifted and understands that what I do is work. All he knows is for me to travel and do my thing. I tell him my job as a single mom is to work and take care of him, so I need him to hold it down in school. He’s a straight “A” student.”
I tell him:
"if you get straight 'A’s' I’ll give you everything you want. I don’t want no behavioral problems. He is expected to respect his teachers and to do his work. Sometimes he can be a class clown, he’s popular, but I tell him he can be popular at lunch or on his own time, not in the classroom.”
