You may or may not be familiar with the TLC reality show, Sister Wives. Just to recap, the show documents the life of a polygamist family, which includes Kody Brown, his four wives and their 16 combined children. This season it appears that there’s trouble in polygamy paradise with jealousy lurking and a law suit on the horizon. The families recent appearance on The Steve Harvey Show brought to light some of the relationship issues the wives experience with Kody and his losing battle to stay out of the doghouse if only for one night! Along with the madness going on inside of the house, TMZ reports that Brown and his multi-wife “plural” family claim they’re filing a lawsuit against the state of Utah — challenging the bigamy law that makes their lifestyle illegal.

The Brown family attorney posted a statement on his blog saying:

“We are not demanding the recognition of polygamous marriage. We are only challenging the right of the state to prosecute people for their private relations and demanding equal treatment with other citizens in living their lives according to their own beliefs.”

Can you imagine a Sister Wives show with an all minority polygamist cast? I can, and what I’m certain of is the fact that the local police department would be a regular fixture on the show! Some practices simply don’t work in certain cultures and I guess that’s the beauty of differences. I can’t imagine my ex-husband suggesting that we take on three more wives and their children. Are you kidding me? I wish I WOULD agree to sit there and watch him get ready to go on a date to “court” a new wife while me and three other women are left to take care of 16 kids. The real money would be in a show called Ex-Sister Wives or Not My Sister Wife to get the behind the scenes tales of the mayhem that took place in the house. What I love about our country is that for the most part depending on where you live, you are able to exercise your rights and beliefs and exist the way you see fit (for the most part). Can’t we all just get along?
