Bottles have been popped, peaches, apples and many other fruits and items across the world have been dropped marking the beginning of a new year. So why do you feel so indifferent? And what does it mean when your new year doesn’t start off with an overflowing sense of motivation and positivity along with the drive to take over the world?

At the end of last year I was feeling like I was going to bring in 2013 with a major bang instead of the fizz I’m experiencing so far. Sometimes we can have unrealistic expectations about the turn of a new year. In my case, I’m still dealing with some negative loose ends from 2012 that were out of my control. As a result, I’m left feeling somewhat disheveled and out of sorts because I wanted to be on track the first week of the new year. If you’re experiencing the new year’s blah’s, you’ll have to find a way to get things going in a good direction.

What I know I do well is writing, so my solution was to do what I do best; I figured nothing bad could come of that. And when writing didn’t give me the feeling or level of comfort I was looking for I picked up a book searching for knowledge and mental stimulation. Again, you can’t go wrong with any type of positive edification. If you’re having a hard time jump starting the new year and maybe even the new you, I just wanted to let you know you aren’t alone. Some people jumped right into 2013 full steam ahead while others are still warming up. It doesn’t mean you won’t achieve great things or overcome the obstacles that held you back last year. Comparing yourself to others is one of the worst mistakes you can make, so stop worrying about how great things are going for your best friend, co-workers, or sisters. Figure out what it’s going to take to get yourself together and then make it happen. Pick up from this moment right now and do something constructive that is going to contribute to the bottom line of what you want for yourself today!
