Fisher-Price is ordering a recall of 800,000 their Newborn Rock 'N Play Sleepers due to a mold risk. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is urging parents to check their Rock 'N Play Sleeper for mold, which can cause severe respiratory problems in infants.
The Rock 'N Play Sleeper has a fabric cover over a plastic seat. If the seat stays wet for a long period of time or if the baby isn't changed often enough, mold can develop on the underside of the fabric cover. Parents should lift up the cover and check for black, brown or gray spots. If they find spots, they should stop using the seat immediately and either call the company of see www.service.mattel.com for cleaning and care instructions. Though the Rock 'N Play Sleepers still in stores are safe, parents should check carefully that the seat does not develop mold in the future.
