As a part of my New Year’s resolution to not only lose weight, but to also lead a healthy lifestyle, I’ll be doing a 30-day juicing reboot. This is phase one of my journey back to health and my pre-baby body. For 30 days I’ll be juicing nothing but fresh fruits and vegetables in efforts to cleanse and reprogram my body. For the next 30-days my life will be an open book. Get a recap of week 2.
Today is the close of week 3 of my 30-day reboot. This has certainly been the toughest week yet. To quote Charles Dickens, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." It was the best of times because I've made it yet another week and it was the worst of times because having to cook for my family is getting harder and harder. Here's a recap of my reboot day-by-day:
Day 12 was pretty rough. I was just sick of not eating. It seemed like the day was going by so slow. I hopped on social media to kill time, but it seems like everyone's timelines on both Facebook and Instagram was full of food. I found myself literally salivating at the pics I saw. I miss chewing. I stayed in my room for most of the day.
Days 13 & 14
Weekends are always the toughest. My hubby and I usually go out to eat or order takeout. My favorite spot for the last couple months has been a Thai joint fifteen minutes from my house. Even though I wasn't eating, my husband decided to order takeout for himself. He walked in the house with his food and I nearly fainted. The smell was so strong and so delicious. I kept asking myself why I wasn't eating. It was absolute torture, but I made it.
My day started off well. I juiced, drank my water and tried to stay busy. It wasn't until it was time for me to cook dinner that things begin to unravel. That night I made chili mac from scratch. Did I mention that I absolutely love chili? So much so, that if it were a man, I'd probably marry it. That's how much I love chill. The smell was amazing. I can't tell you how bad I wanted to just dump the pot over my head and go to town. Instead, I remained strong. I did freeze a couple portions for after this reboot is over. I open the freezer everyday and whisper sweet nothings to it.
Days 16,17, and 18 were pretty much the same. I'd do well up until time to prepare dinner. I literally have to call down fire from heaven to keep myself from indulging while cooking. I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos of men and women that chronicled their juicing journey. They all look calm and happy. I don't think any of those people had to still cook for their families. This would be so much easier if I didn't have to.
Let me just get straight to the point: I. Miss. Food. I really, really do. I miss chewing. I do. Though this is tough, I am making it through. I am developing the discipline I need for me to resist temptation when it comes to food after the reboot is complete. I am losing weight. Not as much as I thought, but it is coming off. I have to keep reminding myself that this isn't solely about the weight, but more so the lifestyle change and detoxing.
Warning: TMI below
I haven't had a decent bowel movement in a day or so. I hear that's common. To remedy that I'm going to drink some smooth moves tea to help get things going again. I've been told by my health nut friends that I need to give myself an enema. I'm sorry, but I'm not about that life. I will however, be making an appointment to get a colonic in the very near future. I want to ensure that along with the toxins, I remove any excess waste that may be lingering as well. I want to make certain my body is detoxed and cleaned out and ready for a healthy lifestyle.
Until next time ladies,
