Photographer Poses Kids as Black Icons

We can’t get over this project from photographer Eunique Jones; it’s inspiring, smart and adorable all at the same time. Jones’ “Because of Them, We Can” campaign features one poster for each day of Black History Month with a kid styled as an important black figure plus one of their inspirational quotes. The Maryland photographer said she wanted to “empower and excite young people about their history and their future in a creative and yet relatable way.”

Jones chose a wide variety of icons like Thurgood Marshall, Bob Marley, Harriet Tubman, Shirley Chisolm and even contemporary figures like Kerry Washington. Posters are available for sale through Jones’ website starting at $20 each.
