Date Night Therapy

Do you feel like you and your mate are two ships passing in the night? Your gut never steers you wrong and if this is the case, your relationship could be in need of Date Night Therapy. More than likely you and your significant other are working parents raising one or more children finding it impossible to steal an hour or even thirty minutes of ‘grown up’ time to cultivate your love.

Just like plaque causes gum disease and leads to gingivitis, letting your alone time fall by the wayside can lead to a terribly unfavorable outcome for you and your family. While date night may seem like a juvenile concept, it’s a tried and true way to get you and your mate on a schedule that will keep your love on a progressive track. Ladies, this is your chance to take your hands off the reigns and allow your beau to surprise you with plans for the evening. Most women are used to being the strategizers in the relationship and may find it hard to let go of this responsibility.

Try to look at it this way; this is a time to sit back and watch and see how well your mate knows you and if there are areas where you could stand to know one another even better. By not having to concern yourself with the details of your date night, you have the opportunity to focus on things like what to wear, buying a new perfume for the occasion, and choosing a lip color that will make you virtually irresistible in his eyes.

It’s a good idea to take turns with planning date night, but give your mate a chance to wow you; he needs to know that his opinions and thoughts matter when it comes down to it. If making your date night the same night of the week isn’t possible, commit to taking one evening a week for 2 to 3 hours to gaze into each others eyes, laugh, make-out, and reflect on where you have come from and where you’re going as a couple. Strengthening your relationship and bond in creative ways could make all the difference in the world.
