Watch This: New Kelis Music Video Causes A “Rumble”

"I'm so glad you gave back my keys..." is the line that'll stick with you from the new song and Kelis music video "Rumble" from her upcoming release Food, due April 22.

Directed by Christian Lamb, the laid-back track is visually matched by a lake backdrop in the clip. The always stylish songstress is decked in her finest fishing gear (rubber boots, camo pants, super-sized Kelis throwback chain,  a red leather moto jacket) and topped with a fierce milkmaid braid and face beat. She simply drags a lush chair into the middle of the water and just sings as a few fishermen and her band duck and canoe in and out of the frame. “And even though I know I’m right/ Just like some lapse in my memory/ You’re back to me, hand on the door/ I want you, baby don’t go.”

But then she gives that signature Kelis kiss-off to "him" in the chorus: “I’m so glad you gave back my keys.” Yes!

Kelis says the album, Food, is  "really honest." "It's extremely melodic and it's kind of funny at times... it's a soul record that's as raw and alternative as it is classic," she told NME. "I think is my favourite album. But I always say that." Last year Kelis debuted the song 'Jerk Ribs'. Other songs set for the album include 'Breakfast', 'Cobbler' and 'Friday Fish Fry'--all fitting since she's a chef with a show on The Cooking Channel called "Saucy & Sweet."

Give the video a watch, we think you'll get into Kelis new video "Rumble."

In the meantime, the mom to son, Knight, is performing around the UK this May through July. Wonder if she's planning some dates in the states? We'll keep you posted.

What do you think of the video and song? Do you miss the sassier "Milkshake" Kelis?

The song isn’t my fav, but Kelis has always been a creative songstress with a dope sound and look. Too bad she’s often slept on. I will always be a fan, though.

Typical Kelis. Not bad. You have to be very artistic to understand her. She definitely doesn’t try to fit into mainstream BS. Glad she pushes the envelope and isn’t afraid to step outside the box. Her voice is very distinct.
